This past May, I visited Mora County in Northern New Mexico. I had a wonderful stay with my friends in Chacon. Situated in the Mora Valley, in view of sprawling vistas of the Carson National Forest, I was in awe of the surrounding beauty. Their horses were the perfect addition to the landscape, crisp, clear air and tranquility. If you ever spent anytime around horses, you understand how their gentle nature inspires. The structures on the land are over 100 years old. The thick, cool air inside the adobe was as organic and authentic as one could imagine. There was even an old toothbrush left from the last occupant. Imagine! It reminded me of the old man's adobe home in the Milagros Beanfield War. I included the Tractor Supply Co. sign becuase it was my first trip to such a store in search of hay!! I loved it, but of course, I gravitated to the boot section!
Chacon is peaceful and serene, and I am happy to have spent that time there with such special and interesting people.
Stay tuned for a short history of the area in my blog.
